After enjoying a delicious breakfast on our own, we convene at the designated meeting point, the Bhagsu Nag Taxi Stand, around 11 am. Our trek to Leta begins from this point, taking us through the local Tibetan Market and the ancient Bhagsu Nag Temple before reaching the renowned waterfall. The journey to the waterfall typically lasts 20 to 25 minutes, allowing for photo opportunities and a chance to savor hot meals such as eggs and bread or spicy Maggie accompanied by a cup of tea. Upon crossing the waterfall, we embark on a steep ascent towards the Leta campsite. Our knowledgeable guide will regale us with stories about the area, ensuring an engaging and enjoyable trek. The picturesque natural trail will keep us engaged, offering a captivating experience throughout the excursion. Upon reaching the campsite, guests can relax by dropping off their bags before continuing to explore and take in panoramic views of the Shivalik Hills and the Kangra Valley plains. Dinner will be served near a cozy bonfire, accompanied by soothing music. Spend the evening under the starlit sky, basking in the warmth of the bonfire. Overnight accommodations will be provided in comfortable campsites.
In the morning, we embark on a trek from Leta to Triund, continuing on to Laka Glacier and Lahesh Caves, which sit at an elevation of 3700 meters. Along the way, we pass through Snowline Cafe, approximately 1.5 hours from Triund, and Ilaqa Got, another two hours beyond. Our camp is set up inside the caves, or outside if space is limited. It is important to note that we must not venture beyond Lahesh Caves in the afternoon, as the weather and terrain can become hazardous.
It is advisable to begin your journey early in the morning, as the weather tends to deteriorate in the afternoon. In the early summer months of April to May, the trail is often covered in snow and necessitates the use of proper equipment. However, during the post-monsoon season from September to November, there is typically no snow or ice on the trail, though it does become narrow as it ascends towards the pass. The trek to the pass usually takes around four hours, with an additional three hours required to reach Nag Dal Lake. Accommodations for the night can be found along the lakeside.
Today, we will journey towards another sacred body of water known as Lam Dal Lake. The trek to the lake will take approximately four hours, followed by an additional three hours to reach its shores. We will be spending the night beside this holy lake.
