About the Indrahar Pass Trek

The Indrahar Pass Trek is one of the most rewarding high-altitude treks near Dharamshala. Starting from Bhagsunag near McLeodganj, the route climbs through forest, alpine meadows and rocky mountain terrain via Triund, the Snowline area, Laka Glacier and Lahesh Cave.

On a clear summit day, the pass reveals wide views across the Kangra Valley and Punjab plains to the south, with the Pir Panjal Range and Manimahesh Kailash towards the north. The final approach is steep and may include snow or ice, so the route is best suited to fit trekkers with some previous hiking experience.

Safety comes first: The Indrahar Pass attempt depends on weather, snow, trail conditions and participant fitness. The trek leader may change the route or set a turnaround time.

Responsible trekking

Follow the guide, carry reusable bottles, avoid littering and respect local communities, wildlife and water sources.

When to go

Best time for Indrahar Pass Trek

May to June usually brings improving trail access, spring scenery and possible snow patches at higher elevations.

September to October often offers clearer post-monsoon skies and colder nights. Heavy monsoon and severe winter conditions generally make the route unsuitable.
