This is truly the trip of a lifetime. The diversity of India cannot be captured in a single visit, yet this itinerary takes you on a very special spiritual journey. From the silver-clad temple of Akshardham to the Monkey Temple of Hanuman, your time in Delhi will be spent exploring little-known gems. After an unforgettable overnight train journey, you will find yourself in the exiled home and temple of the Dalai Lama, in the foothills of the Himalayas.
An itinerary like no other, we will also whisk you away to the iconic Taj Mahal, to celebrate the culmination of the tour!
However, all of these delights pale into insignificance compared to your trek up into the snowy Himalayas. This is the true awe-inspiring part of your journey! Over five days you will make your way along donkey tracks, past ramshackle villages where friendly children giggle and shy ladies in beautiful saris tend to their goats and cows. You will camp next to clear, babbling springs, under skies full of stars. As you ascend into the mountains, breathtaking vistas will open up before you and you will finally understand the majesty of the Himalayas.
Upon arrival in Delhi, we are met by our local guides and transfer to a Hotel in Delhi to freshen up and explore your surroundings. The monkey Temple of Hanuman is just around the corner! Later we visit the largest war memorial in India, The India Gate. The memorial was build in the memory of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in different wars to protect the nation. This historic place receives several thousand visitors everyday from all corners of the world. Included. Transfer airport to hotel twin sharing basis. Welcome dinner in the evening.
One of the highlights of today is a visit to Akshardham temple, which exemplifies the honor placed on religion, as everything glitters with silver gems. Its off the tourist track, but very popular with the local worshippers. A delicious late lunch will be enjoyed, before its time to go to the station for the overnight train. Nothing can prepare you for the experience of the hustle bustle of the station! The cabins are air-conditioned and sheets and blankets are provided. Included: Breakfast, dinner, Visits and Tours overnight air-conditioned sleeper train.
On arrival at the Pathankot station, you will be transported to a lovely open air restaurant for breakfast, then onwards to Dharamsala. After checking into your hotel, there is an opportunity to wander down into the village of Mcleodganj, where His Holiness Dalai Lama has his residence and temple. Perhaps he will be home? The village has gentle laid back feel to it, the colorful Tibet crafts are sold in the markets. You will be glad to an early night after the short briefing about the next day trek. Included: Breakfast, Dinner, visit to Dalai Lama Temple, hotel on twin sharing basis.
Following breakfast at our Hotel, we take the transfer to our start point to begin trekking! Our first few kilo meters are undulating until we reach Satobari Village, which is where we start our descent through pine forests to Ghere Village. We stop at a mountain stream to enjoy lunch - a great spot ! Why not take a quick dip in the stream to cool down? We continue after lunch with a steep ascent for about 2 hours to Kareri Village, where we set up camp next to the Laund River. Included : All meals, Baggage transfer (10 kg), certified guide, tents on twin sharing, communal tent basic toilet and washing facilities.
After experiencing our first night under the stars, we continue ascending on a gradual trail passing through many charming villages, passing beautiful open meadows and pine forests on the way. We take a short descent to the mountain stream to stop for lunch, then ascend sharply afterwards to Bal. We’re sure the memories of this day will never be forgotten. Included: All meals, Baggage transfer (10 Kg), certified guide, tents on twin sharing, communal tent basic toilet and washing facilities.
We continue our trek by crossing over a suspension bridge then ascending through rhododendron and pine forests for approx. 2 hours. We’ll soon come across the local ‘chai’ (tea) shop where we can take a rest and enjoy our surroundings. All around us are the Gaddi Tribal people taking their cattle up to the high pastures of Lak and Triund. Continuing our ascent after lunch, we finally reach our camp on an alpine meadow facing the breathtaking snow-capped peaks of the Duala Dhar mountain range. Included: All meals, Baggage transfer (10 Kg), certified guide, tents on twin sharing, communal tent basic toilet and washing facilities.
Our trek today is a challenging ascent to see the fascinating Laka Got, situated at the tip of a glacier. There will be an opportunity for us to trek on the glacier in order to reach Lahes Cave - an overnight shelter used by the shepherds travelling over the mountains with their sheep. After making the effort to climb up to the cave, we return to Triund for our last night under the stars. Included: All meals, Baggage transfer (10 Kg), certified guide, tents on twin sharing, communal tent basic toilet and washing facilities.
