You will be driven from Srinagar to the base camp at Shitkadi, Sonamarg, passing through beautiful Kashmir landscapes. Your trek leader will brief you about the trek along the way. After reaching the base camp, you will be served a welcome drink and snacks. You can explore the city or relax by the bonfire and enjoy a delicious meal before spending the night at the camp.
Explore Sonamarg by starting your day with breakfast and packing your bags. Ascend towards the Nichnai campsite with your backpack. Your first stop will be the Tabletop plateau, offering a wide view of the Thajiwas Mountain Range and the famous Amarnath Peak. Trek towards Nichnai, passing by a river canal and tall mountains. Be cautious when crossing a river, following your trek leaders' guidelines. Enjoy the breathtaking views as you reach the campsite.
Explore Nichnai by starting your day with breakfast and then heading towards the next campsite. Stop near Nichnai Pass to admire the stunning valley from the top after crossing the ridgeline. Remember to take water breaks and maintain a steady pace as you ascend towards the pass. The pass itself is steep with a rocky climb but offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain range. After a few kilometers of walking, you will reach the campsite next to a river that flows from Vishansar Lake. Enjoy the tranquility by the river but remember that fishing is not permitted. Relax and have a snack at the camping area.
The Vishansar Valley trek is challenging but rewarding. Start early to visit Vishansar and Kishansa Lakes, sacred and serene bodies of water. Trek up to Gadsar Pass for stunning views, then descend to Gadsar Meadow with its colorful plants. Finally, reach the unique Gadsar Lake, a hidden gem. Camp near the lake or at nearby army camps. Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek.
The hike to Gadsar starts with a one-hour ascent before opening up to the Satsar Meadow. From there, the trail becomes easier as you walk through lush grass and rocky terrain. The valley is rough and deserted with seven alpine lakes, one of which you will see. Relax by the lake before reaching the campsite near the river stream.
The trek to Satsar involves navigating through boulders and rocky terrain before reaching Zajibal Pass. The trail includes steep climbs and descents, leading to Gangabal Valley where the largest Satsar Lake is located. The trek reaches its highest point at Zajibal Pass, at an altitude of 4000 meters, before descending through a narrow meadow to the twin lakes in the valley fed by melting glaciers from Mount Harmukh. Gangabal Lake is a short distance from Nundkol Lake.
After exploring Gangabal and having breakfast, the journey to Naranag begins with a gradual descent through the meadows of Trunkhol, which are filled with lush greenery and yellow flowers. Stop at the shepherd's houses for some tea before continuing through the forest towards Butsheri top. A three-hour climb awaits before a steep descent leads to the final destination of Naranag. Make sure to lace up your boots and take care of your legs during this challenging trail. Drive to Srinagar
