This North India tour package brings together Sikh heritage in Amritsar, Tibetan culture in Dharamshala and Mughal architecture in Agra. Delhi connects the journey, with time on arrival and a return for departure.
The rhythm changes from lively city streets to the Kangra Valley’s temples and mountain setting, then to the Taj Mahal. Daytime rail travel to Amritsar and an overnight return from Pathankot are part of the experience. This is a sightseeing holiday with walking at visitor sites; trekking is available as a separate extension.

Route: Delhi → Amritsar → Dharamshala & Kangra Valley → Pathankot → Delhi → Agra → Delhi.
The itinerary below is the planning framework. Train availability, site closures, road conditions and your arrival times determine the confirmed schedule.
Meet our team at Delhi airport and transfer to your hotel. Settle in after your journey. If your arrival time permits, discuss a visit to Akshardham or an evening stop at India Gate; opening days, queues and your energy level determine the plan. Overnight in Delhi.
After an early start, board the booked daytime train to Amritsar, with AC chair-car travel or the equivalent confirmed in your proposal. Transfer to the hotel and visit the Golden Temple in the evening when timings permit. Overnight in Amritsar.
Explore Jallianwala Bagh and Durgiana Temple, with time to appreciate Amritsar’s religious heritage and local streets. In the afternoon, travel to Attari–Wagah for the retreat ceremony, subject to official access and operations. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Amritsar.
Drive through the Pathankot area into the Kangra Valley towards Dharamshala. Allow approximately 4–5 hours of driving, with additional time for breaks and traffic. Check in and, if time allows, explore McLeod Ganj’s markets. Overnight in Dharamshala.
Discover the region’s history with a sightseeing plan around Masroor’s rock-cut temples, Kangra Fort, Brajeshwari Devi Temple and Norbulingka. These are spread across the valley; the guide will prioritise visits according to opening hours, traffic and your interests. Confirm the final order before departure. Overnight in Dharamshala.
Spend the day around Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj, with planned stops at the Tsuglagkhang complex, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives and Tibetan Museum as access and opening hours allow. Learn about Tibetan culture and leave time for a gentle walk or cafés. Religious audiences and special events are not included. Overnight in Dharamshala.
Enjoy a relaxed morning, with optional Dharamkot time or shopping if the transfer schedule permits. Drive to Pathankot and board the booked overnight sleeper train to Delhi. The confirmed train, boarding station, berth class and baggage arrangements are provided before travel. Overnight on the train.
Arrive in Delhi and continue by road to Agra. Check into your hotel and visit the Taj Mahal when arrival and opening hours permit. The monument is closed to general visitors on Fridays, so your dates and visit order must be planned accordingly. Train delays may require an adjusted sightseeing schedule. Overnight in Agra.
Return by road to Delhi for your onward departure. Book flights only after the team confirms the transfer schedule and a suitable traffic buffer. Additional sightseeing or an extra hotel night can be requested separately. The tour finishes in Delhi.
Choose dates for the whole route: Delhi, Amritsar and Agra can be hot while Dharamshala is cooler. Spring and autumn are useful starting points for planning; summer, monsoon and winter each require adjustments to clothing and travel expectations.
Rail tickets depend on availability. Confirm the daytime seating class and overnight berth class, train times and Pathankot boarding station in writing. Keep onward flights flexible until transfers are agreed.
The official Taj Mahal website confirms its Friday closure. Attari–Wagah is a planned cultural stop; see the Amritsar district visitor information and confirm current access with the team. Temple and museum opening hours may also affect the daily order.
The Golden Temple, Tibetan religious sites and Kangra’s temples are places of worship as well as visitor attractions. Follow local instructions, keep voices low where requested and ask before photographing people. Special audiences, religious ceremonies and access to every building are not guaranteed.
Tell us how much walking you are comfortable with before booking. Temple steps, uneven fort paths and railway stations may require additional assistance or a modified itinerary.
The package is 9 days / 8 nights, starting and ending in Delhi. It includes seven hotel nights and one overnight sleeper-train journey from Pathankot to Delhi.
