India’s classic heritage circuit, with time in the wild

The Golden Triangle links Delhi, Agra and Jaipur: three cities with very different streets, buildings and rhythms. This route adds two nights near Ranthambore, giving wildlife its own place in the journey rather than treating the safari as an unspecified excursion.

Begin with Delhi’s monuments and neighbourhoods, continue to Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal, then travel towards the forest landscapes around Sawai Madhopur. Two planned safari drives are followed by Jaipur’s palace architecture and the hilltop setting of Amber Fort.

Road journeys are part of this seven-day programme. Sightseeing is paced around traffic, opening days and your interests. Ask for the final route and hotel proposal before confirming flights, particularly for the drive back to Delhi on the final day.

What to confirm before booking

  • Two safari permits: dates, shifts, zones and vehicle type.
  • Shared versus exclusive park transport.
  • Hotel names or categories and room sharing.
  • Breakfast inclusion; lunch and dinner budget.
  • Monument tickets and any camera charges.
  • Delhi arrival and final-day departure timing.

Price on request. Your written quotation confirms availability and the specific arrangements. An enquiry is not a confirmed safari or hotel booking.

The journey day by day

Golden Triangle and Ranthambore itinerary: 7 days

Six nights: Delhi 2, Agra 1, Ranthambore 2 and Jaipur 1. Breakfast is included; lunch and dinner are extra. The route may need adjustment around the Taj Mahal’s Friday closure and safari availability.

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi

Meet your driver at the agreed Delhi airport pickup point and transfer to the hotel. If arrival time permits, discuss a light local outing or market visit; late arrivals can simply rest. The final pickup arrangements are matched to your flight details.

Overnight: Delhi.

Day 2: Explore Old and New Delhi

Explore the capital with a sightseeing guide. Prioritise a workable selection of Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate and Old Delhi landmarks such as Jama Masjid and the Red Fort. Lotus Temple or another stop can be considered when opening days, traffic and the group’s pace allow. The order is confirmed locally rather than promising every attraction in one rushed day.

Overnight: Delhi.

Day 3: Delhi to Agra

Travel to Agra by private air-conditioned vehicle, with the original programme allowing approximately four hours for the road journey. After checking in, explore Agra Fort as time and opening hours permit. Keep the evening relaxed before the early Taj Mahal visit.

Overnight: Agra.

Day 4: Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and Ranthambore

Visit the Taj Mahal early when permitted, then leave Agra for Ranthambore. A stop at Fatehpur Sikri is planned around road time and opening hours. The Taj Mahal is closed to regular visitors on Fridays, so the itinerary or travel dates must be adjusted if needed. This is a substantial travel day; do not treat the original five-hour drive estimate as a guaranteed arrival time.

Overnight: Ranthambore area.

Day 5: Two Ranthambore safari drives

The package plans a morning and an afternoon wildlife safari in Ranthambore, using the vehicle type and zones confirmed with available permits. Look for the park’s landscapes and wildlife with the accompanying guide or naturalist, without a guarantee of a tiger sighting. Ranthambore Fort may be visited between drives if access, timings and the group’s energy allow.

Overnight: Ranthambore area.

Day 6: Ranthambore to Jaipur

Drive towards Jaipur after breakfast. The original programme allows roughly three hours, but actual timing depends on the road and stops. Settle into the hotel and take a guided city visit, considering City Palace, Jantar Mantar and a Hawa Mahal viewpoint as time permits. Ask before photographing people in markets or religious spaces.

Overnight: Jaipur.

Day 7: Amber Fort and return to Delhi

Visit Amber Fort in the morning, with a Jal Mahal viewpoint stop if practical, then continue by road to Delhi. This is a long final sightseeing-and-transfer day. Arrange a sufficiently late flight, an onward overnight stay, or a revised finish with the team; do not book a tight connection based on a five-hour drive estimate.

Overnight: Departure; no hotel night included.

Tour inclusions

  • Six nights in sharing accommodation from the confirmed hotel proposal.
  • Daily breakfast.
  • Private air-conditioned vehicle for scheduled transfers and city sightseeing.
  • English-speaking sightseeing guide support as arranged.
  • Pickup and drop-off within the confirmed itinerary.
  • Two Ranthambore jeep or canter safari drives with accompanying guide or naturalist, subject to confirmed permits.
  • Assistance with monument entry; ticket costs are separate unless specified.
  • Fuel, parking, road tolls and driver allowance.
  • Bottled drinking water on long drives.
  • Applicable government taxes included in the quotation.

Tour exclusions

  • International and domestic flights.
  • Visa fees and travel insurance.
  • Lunch, dinner, drinks and unspecified refreshments.
  • Monument entrance fees unless expressly included.
  • Personal purchases, laundry, calls and tips.
  • Camera or video charges where applicable.
  • Additional safaris beyond the two included drives.
  • Exclusive safari vehicle or upgrades unless agreed.
  • Unlisted activities and extra costs caused by delays or closures.

Choose the hotel category and any optional upgrades with the team. Heritage or palace stays are possibilities to quote, not a guarantee at every destination.

How the Ranthambore safari works

The two drives are planned for the morning and afternoon of Day 5. The confirmed permit controls the shift, zone and vehicle arrangement. Jeep and canter are different vehicle options; a shared drive may be used unless exclusivity is expressly included.

Enjoy the forest, birdlife and any animals encountered without expecting a guaranteed tiger sighting. Follow the park guide’s instructions, remain in the authorised vehicle and do not disturb or feed wildlife.

Confirm the necessary visitor documents through the booking process. The Rajasthan Forest Department’s safari booking page is an official reference for park permits. Current rules take precedence over a general itinerary.

Best time and sightseeing closures

October to March is often more comfortable for city sightseeing. April to June can be much hotter, so discuss early starts, breaks and your group’s preferences. Wildlife sightings remain unpredictable in every month.

Rajasthan Tourism lists October to June as the usual Ranthambore visiting season. Monsoon closures or zone restrictions can change the safari plan; check your actual dates before paying.

The official Taj Mahal website confirms its Friday closure for regular visitors. Other monument opening days and local restrictions also affect sightseeing order.

Prepare for city walks and open-vehicle drives

  • Comfortable walking shoes, light clothing and sun protection.
  • A warm layer for cool morning safari departures.
  • Reusable water bottle, personal medicines and essential documents.
  • Camera or binoculars, subject to current park rules.
  • Clothing suitable for religious sites.
  • A flexible final-day flight plan and budget for excluded meals.

This tour involves road travel and sightseeing walks, rather than a trek. Tell the team about mobility needs, children travelling and preferred pace so that hotels, stops and safari arrangements can be discussed realistically.

Ask before photographing people, respect religious customs and avoid littering at monuments and in the park. Read our first-time India travel tips for further preparation.

Golden Triangle safari tour FAQs

The advertised tour is 7 days / 6 nights, starting and finishing in Delhi. It includes two nights in Delhi, one in Agra, two near Ranthambore and one in Jaipur. A longer or differently paced version can be quoted separately.

The route is Delhi–Agra–Ranthambore–Jaipur–Delhi. Ranthambore is the wildlife destination for this itinerary; it is not an unspecified day trip to Sariska or a different park.

Two Ranthambore safari drives are included in the planned package, usually on Day 5. Shift, zone and vehicle allocation depend on available permits and operating conditions. Confirm the actual bookings before travel.

No. Tigers and other animals are wild and move freely. Two drives provide two opportunities to experience the park, but no sighting or particular animal encounter can be guaranteed.

The package lists jeep or canter safaris. A shared safari may be used unless an exclusive vehicle is expressly confirmed in your quotation. The private air-conditioned vehicle for city travel does not automatically mean a private park safari.

October to March is often more comfortable for city sightseeing. Safari access is generally planned in the October–June season, but zone access and operating rules must be checked for your dates. Hot-weather travel needs a different pace; no season guarantees tiger sightings.

Do not assume the usual safari programme operates in July–September. Seasonal closures, zone restrictions and weather can change availability. Request a current assessment before booking a monsoon itinerary.

The Taj Mahal is closed to regular visitors on Fridays. Your Agra sightseeing must be arranged around that closure and any special restrictions. The team can discuss changing the start date or sightseeing order.

Daily breakfast is included. Lunch, dinner, drinks and refreshments are extra unless a specific addition is agreed in writing.

Monument entrance assistance is included, but ticket fees are excluded unless expressly listed in your package. Confirm Taj Mahal, fort, palace, camera and any additional park-related charges separately.

This is a road-based cultural and wildlife tour with sightseeing walks, rather than a trekking trip. Share children’s ages, mobility needs and preferred pace before booking. Open safari vehicles and long road days require an individual suitability discussion.

The listed minimum group size is two. Send your dates, number of travellers, hotel preference and flight plans through the enquiry form. The team will confirm hotel choices, safari availability, inclusions and a final quotation before a booking is agreed.
