The journey, day by day
Spiti Valley itinerary from Delhi: 10 days
Nine planned nights: Shimla, Sarahan, Kalpa, Tabo, three nights in Kaza, a seasonal Chandratal-area camp and Manali. Road conditions can change the driving time and final overnight arrangements.
Day 01
Delhi to Shimla
Begin with the agreed Delhi pickup and drive towards Shimla. This is a long transfer day, so coordinate arrival times before booking flights or trains. Settle into the hotel; a Mall Road or Ridge walk depends on your arrival time. Overnight in Shimla.
Day 02
Shimla to Sarahan
Continue through the hill country towards Sarahan, with stops along the Kufri, Narkanda and Rampur route as time allows. Visit Bhimakali Temple and explore the village at an unhurried pace. Overnight in Sarahan.
Day 03
Sarahan to Kalpa
Follow the Sutlej corridor into Kinnaur and climb towards Kalpa. Spend the afternoon around the village and orchards, with views towards the Kinnaur mountains when skies are clear. Overnight in Kalpa.
Day 04
Kalpa via Nako to Tabo
Travel through a changing mountain landscape towards Nako. A village or lake stop breaks the drive before the onward journey into Spiti. Reach Tabo and settle in after a substantial road day. Overnight in Tabo.
Day 05
Tabo via Dhankar to Kaza
Visit Tabo Monastery and continue to Dhankar, where the old monastery overlooks the valley. Drive onwards to Kaza and keep the remainder of the day easy. Overnight in Kaza.
Day 06
Key Monastery and the high villages
Explore Key Monastery and Kibber, then the Hikkim, Komic and Langza village circuit according to road access and the day’s pace. Enjoy village landscapes and local heritage without rushing every stop. Overnight in Kaza.
Day 07
Pin Valley excursion from Kaza
Spend the day exploring Pin Valley’s river landscapes and villages on the route agreed with your driver. Stops depend on local access, road conditions and available time. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Return for a third night in Kaza.
Day 08
Kaza to Chandratal via Kunzum
Leave Kaza for the seasonal Kunzum crossing and Chandratal approach. The lake visit involves walking from the roadhead; access and the overnight camp depend on conditions. Stay at an authorised campsite away from the lake shore, as agreed for the departure.
Day 09
Chandratal to Manali
Depart via Batal and Gramphu towards Manali. Rough road sections make this a full travel day. The final approach uses the open, permitted route agreed for the departure; a Rohtang crossing is not guaranteed. Overnight in Manali.
Day 10
Manali to Delhi
Complete the return transfer to Delhi using the transport stated in your quotation. Allow a long travel day and a buffer before onward connections. If you choose an overnight bus instead, Delhi arrival is normally the following morning; confirm how this changes your schedule.
Questions before you go
Spiti Valley tour FAQs
How long is this Spiti Valley tour from Delhi?
The published plan is 10 days and 9 nights, starting and finishing in Delhi via Shimla, Kinnaur, Spiti and Manali. An overnight Manali–Delhi bus may arrive on the following morning; confirm the return schedule before arranging onward travel.
What is the route of the Spiti Valley circuit?
Delhi → Shimla → Sarahan → Kalpa → Nako → Tabo → Dhankar → Kaza, with high-village and Pin Valley excursions, then Chandratal → Manali → Delhi when the seasonal roads are open.
What does the Spiti Valley tour package cost?
The price is on request and depends on dates, group size, accommodation, vehicle and inclusions. The published minimum group size is two. Request a written quote rather than relying on a fixed headline price.
When is the best time for the complete circuit?
The seasonal Kunzum route is generally planned for June to September. Opening and closing dates vary with snow and road conditions. Confirm the Chandratal visit and Manali exit for your chosen departure.
Is Chandratal Lake guaranteed on every departure?
No. The lake approach and campsite depend on road access, weather and local restrictions. If access changes, the team must confirm an alternative route or overnight arrangement with you.
Does this itinerary always cross Rohtang Pass?
No. The approach to Manali follows the open and permitted road route for your dates. Confirm the route in your quotation; do not assume a Rohtang crossing is included.
Is this a trek or a road tour?
It is primarily a mountain road tour, with sightseeing walks and walking on the Chandratal approach. Long drives, high-altitude stops and rough sections make it more demanding than a short hill-station holiday.
What accommodation and meals are included?
The route combines town and village stays with a seasonal camp near Chandratal. The hotel category, room sharing, camp amenities and meal plan are specified in your quotation. Ask about any comfort requirements before booking.
Will mobile signal and internet work throughout Spiti?
Coverage varies by provider and location. Remote roads and the Chandratal area can have limited connectivity. Check current arrangements with the team and keep important travel details available offline.
Can the trip be customised?
Yes. Ask about extra nights, a different starting point, accommodation changes or a slower sightseeing pace. Any change to the circuit, transport or inclusions should be confirmed in the final itinerary.
Can I visit Spiti in winter on this itinerary?
This full circuit depends on the seasonal Kunzum and Chandratal roads. A winter itinerary requires separate planning, with different access and overnight stops.
How do I request a booking?
Use the enquiry form or call the team with your dates and group size. Availability, itinerary and price must be confirmed before the booking is final.
