Your 8-day Kerala itinerary

A southbound journey from Kochi to the coast. Travel times are approximate; opening hours, weather and your agreed arrangements may change the order of visits.

Day 1 · Arrive in Kochi

Meet your transfer at Cochin International Airport or Ernakulam Railway Station and settle into your hotel. Depending on arrival time, explore Fort Kochi, the Chinese fishing nets and St. Francis Church. Mattancherry Palace, the synagogue and markets can be considered subject to opening times. Overnight: Kochi. Arrival-day meals follow your selected package.

Day 2 · Kochi to Munnar

After breakfast, travel into the Western Ghats towards Munnar. Allow around four to five hours, depending on your pickup point, traffic and stops. Pause at Cheeyappara or Valara waterfalls where conditions allow, then check in and enjoy a quieter evening. Overnight: Munnar. Breakfast included.

Day 3 · Tea country and Munnar scenery

Explore Munnar’s tea landscapes and plan a visit to a tea museum or factory, subject to opening. Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Kundala Lake offer further sightseeing options. Eravikulam National Park is subject to tickets and seasonal closures; an alternative is needed when it is closed. Overnight: Munnar. Breakfast included.

Day 4 · Munnar to Thekkady

Drive through hill country to Thekkady, allowing approximately three to four hours. Visit a spice plantation as scheduled, then choose optional Periyar Lake boating, a guided nature activity or an evening Kathakali or Kalaripayattu performance. Activity tickets are extra unless confirmed otherwise. Overnight: Thekkady. Breakfast included.

Day 5 · Alleppey backwaters and houseboat

Travel to Alleppey, also called Alappuzha, and board your houseboat at the confirmed boarding point. Watch the landscape change to canals, paddy fields and waterside villages as you cruise. The boat anchors overnight rather than cruising continuously. Overnight: Alleppey houseboat. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 6 · Alleppey to Kovalam

Have breakfast aboard, disembark and continue south to Kovalam. Allow roughly four to five hours on the road, with timing affected by traffic and stops. Check in at your hotel or resort and unwind with a shoreline walk or sunset views. Overnight: Kovalam. Breakfast included.

Day 7 · Kovalam at your own pace

Enjoy a relaxed coastal day, or request an optional Thiruvananthapuram sightseeing visit. Museum visits and any temple access depend on local opening and admission rules. Water activities and wellness treatments are optional extras; follow lifeguard advice and local sea conditions. Overnight: Kovalam. Breakfast included.

Day 8 · Departure from Thiruvananthapuram

After breakfast, check out for your transfer to Thiruvananthapuram airport or railway station. Confirm the departure timing with our team and leave a suitable travel buffer. Extensions can be planned separately if you would like more time in Kerala. Breakfast included.

Kerala tour questions, answered

What does this eight-day Kerala tour cover?

Is the Alleppey houseboat stay included?

Where should I arrive and depart?

Are Periyar boating and entrance tickets included?

Optional boating, performances, wellness treatments and water activities are extra unless explicitly included in your quote. Monument and attraction entrance fees should also be checked before booking. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

Can this be a family holiday or honeymoon?

Plan your Kerala trip with confidence

Seasons and local conditions

October to February is generally a comfortable window for this hills-to-coast itinerary. Expect warmer, more humid coastal conditions than in Munnar. Monsoon rain can change road and boating plans; keep your schedule flexible and follow local advice.

Eravikulam has an annual calving-season closure, commonly during February and March. Check current access with the park’s official website before planning your visit.

Pack for hills, water and coast

Bring light breathable clothing, a layer for Munnar evenings, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and rain protection. Modest clothing is useful for religious sites. Share food preferences and allergies before the houseboat stay.
