Questions before your mountain journey
Kundli Pass Trek FAQs
How long is the Kundli Pass Trek?
The published programme is four days and three nights, with a first camp around Thatharana, two nights at Bakhlodu, a pass attempt and a return to Dharamshala.
Does this itinerary cross into Chamba?
No. This four-day itinerary approaches Kundli Pass and returns to Bakhlodu before descending by the approach route. A full crossing into Chamba would need a different itinerary and separate confirmation.
Where does the trek start?
The programme starts with a Dharamshala transfer towards the Khaniyara approach. The exact trailhead and meeting point are confirmed for your departure.
What is the Kundli Pass Trek distance?
The published daily stages total approximately 37–41 km. The actual distance depends on the starting point, campsite locations and the pass-day turnaround. Ask for the final stage plan before booking.
What altitude does the itinerary aim for?
The published upper objective is Kundli Pass at approximately 4,550 metres. The highest point reached is conditional on snow, weather, access and the group’s progress.
How difficult is the Kundli Pass Trek?
Expect challenging walking, steep upper ground, uneven footing and several long days. Previous trekking experience is valuable. Share your recent mountain routes with the team to discuss suitability.
When is the best time to go?
The published planning windows are May–June and September–October. Pass access is not guaranteed by the calendar; confirm current conditions and the proposed route for your dates.
Is reaching the pass guaranteed?
No. The guide decides whether to continue towards the objective and when to turn around. Weather, snow, terrain and the group’s progress can change the plan.
What camping equipment and meals are provided?
The published programme includes tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, trekking support and meals during the trek. Confirm the sharing basis, meal plan, camp facilities and supplied equipment before departure.
Are transfers, permits and baggage support included?
Dharamshala–trailhead return transfers, required route fees and listed baggage support are part of the published arrangement. Ask for the specific vehicle, luggage limit, porter arrangements and permits relevant to your departure.
Will mobile signal work on the trek?
Connectivity can become limited in the mountain terrain. Do not rely on uninterrupted coverage. Keep important details available offline and ask the team about communication arrangements.
How do I book or customise the trek?
Send an enquiry with your dates, group size and recent trekking experience. The team will review availability and confirm the itinerary and services. Extra nights or a different route require a revised arrangement.
