About The Triund Hike:

Triund trek is an approximately 18km trek and can be easily done in 4-6 hours which makes it possible to do it within a single day but the best part is to watch the sunset. There are two routes to do this day hike, the easiest way is to take a cab to Galu temple and start your hike from there and the other route is from Bhagsunag waterfall which is short but steep from the beginning.

  • Day trek to Triund

    Trek to Himalayan foothills, the first range of Dhauladhar mountains. Leave McLeod Ganj after early breakfast and walk through the mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees. This is the most popular day hike. The trail is well marked all the way up to Triund. We can drive to Galu temple and start our hike from there it is 3/4 hours steep ascent to Triund. Small tea shops on the way can provide good refreshments. Triund is an alpine meadow situates atop a flat ridge with fine views of peaks of Dhauladhars on one side and Kangra valley on the other side. After light lunch at Triund start descending to McLeod Ganj from the other side crossing the biggest waterfall of Bhagsunag and if we have time we can visit Shiva Café to grab some evening snacks.

How to reach Dharamshala/Mcleodganj?

Gaggal Airport or Kangra Airport at Dharamshala is about 20 km away from McLeod Ganj and is well connected to Delhi, Kullu, and Chandigarh. A number of state-owned and private buses connect McLeod Ganj with other cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala. Pathankot Railway Station, situated approximately 90 km away, is the closest broad gauge railhead serving those headed to McLeod Ganj.
