Day 1: Manali – Jobra – Chika (10,100 ft)
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Manali to Jobra (9,800 ft), which takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. The drive passes through Prini village and the Allain Duhangan hydropower project, offering beautiful mountain views. From Jobra, the trek starts with an easy 6–7 km walk through dense forests of pine, oak, and maple trees. The trail follows the peaceful Rani Nallah stream and gradually leads to the Chika campsite. This riverside camp offers your first glimpse of the Dhauladhar range. Overnight stay in tents with packed lunch and dinner included.

Day 2: Chika – Balu Ka Ghera (11,900 ft)
After breakfast, begin your trek towards Balu Ka Ghera, covering around 10 km in 4–5 hours. The trail gradually ascends through wide alpine meadows filled with wildflowers and stunning mountain views. As you gain altitude, the terrain becomes rocky with a few river crossings along the way. Balu Ka Ghera, also known as the “Bear’s Den,” is a vast sandy campsite surrounded by towering peaks. Enjoy the peaceful environment and overnight stay with all meals included.

Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera – Hampta Pass (14,100 ft) – Shea Goru (12,800 ft)
This is the most exciting and challenging day of the trek. You will cover around 9 km in 8–9 hours, including a steep ascent to Hampta Pass. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views of Indrasan, Deo Tibba, and the Lahaul valley. After crossing the pass, descend through snowfields and rocky terrain towards Shea Goru. The landscape dramatically changes from green valleys to barren mountains, making this day truly unforgettable. Overnight stay at a high-altitude campsite with meals included.

Day 4: Shea Goru – Chatru – Optional Chandratal Lake (14,000 ft)
Today’s trek is easier as you descend 6 km in about 4 hours to reach Chatru. The trail includes glacial streams and rocky paths. From Chatru, you can optionally drive to the beautiful Chandratal Lake (subject to weather and road conditions). The lake is famous for its crystal-clear blue water and stunning reflections of surrounding mountains. After the visit, return to Chatru campsite for overnight stay with meals included.

Day 5: Chatru – Manali (via Rohtang Pass)

The Hampta Pass trek itinerary begins at Manali which also serves as the base camp. Manali is well-connected to most of the major Indian cities by air, rail and road.
By Air: The Bhuntar Airport in Kullu is the nearest airport to Manali and is located at a distance of 50 km. Domestic airlines operate flights between Manali and Delhi, Chandigarh, and Pathankot. You can easily reach Manali from Bhuntar by taking a taxi or a bus which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
By Train: Chandigarh Railway Station and Pathankot Railway Station are the nearest train stations from Manali located approximately 315 km and 290 km away respectively. Regular buses and taxis are available from Chandigarh and Pathankot to Manali.
By Road: Manali is well connected by road to all the major parts of the country. Chandigarh, Delhi, Ambala and Shimla serve as the junction points. Private Volvo bus services as well as government buses regularly operate between these cities and Manali. You can also take taxis or opt to drive private cars to enjoy the picturesque views of the roads.
