The route, clearly explained

Snowline trek via Triund, with a night at Leta

The Snowline Trek Dharamshala package follows the mountain trail above McLeod Ganj into the Dhauladhar foothills. Starting from Bhagsu Nag, the route passes Dharamkot and Galu before climbing through woodland to the open ridge at Triund. From there, you continue towards Snowline for closer mountain views.

This itinerary is designed around one substantial walking day followed by an easier return from camp. After visiting Snowline, you descend to Leta Village for dinner and an overnight stay. Your camping night is at Leta, rather than at the Snowline high point.

Why choose this two-day trek?

  • Explore beyond the usual Triund turnaround on a guided mountain walk.
  • See forest trails, open ridges and views towards the Dhauladhar range and Kangra Valley, weather permitting.
  • Enjoy an overnight camping experience without adding a multi-day expedition.
  • Start and finish near McLeod Ganj, with route planning from the Bhagsu Nag team.

If you prefer a shorter outing, compare the Triund day hike. For an extended trek, explore the Laka Glacier itinerary.

Two days in the Dhauladhar

Snowline trek itinerary

The standard route below follows the existing two-day package. Your guide may adjust the route or turnaround point for weather, trail access and the group's pace.

DAY01

Bhagsu Nag → Triund → Snowline → Leta camp

Bhagsu Nag · Dharamkot · Galu · Triund · Snowline · Leta Village

Meet the team at the Bhagsu Nag office at 8am for your trek briefing. Walk via Dharamkot towards Galu, then follow the uphill trail towards Triund. An optional cab to Galu can be arranged at extra cost; it is not included in the package.

Take breaks along the route, with tea or snacks at trail stops paid separately. Continue beyond Triund towards Snowline when conditions allow, then descend to Leta Village camp. This is a long day with both ascent and descent: carry lunch, water and layers, and keep a steady pace.

Settle into a twin-sharing dome tent and enjoy vegetarian dinner. Mountain views, snow and sunset colours depend on the day's conditions.

DAY02

Leta Village camp → Bhagsu Nag

Breakfast at camp · Return walk · Finish near McLeod Ganj

Wake up to the hillside surroundings and have breakfast before descending towards Bhagsu Nag. The return timing depends on your pace and trail conditions, so allow a buffer before booking onward travel.

After the trek, you can explore Bhagsu Nag Temple, the waterfall area or cafés independently if time permits. Local sightseeing, transfers and extra meals are not part of the standard trekking package.

Arrive prepared

Plan your Snowline trek

Difficulty and walking distance

Treat this as a moderate trek with a demanding first day. The climb through Triund to Snowline is followed by a descent to camp. Rocky stretches, steep sections and changing weather make fitness and suitable footwear important. Fit beginners should discuss their walking experience with the team before booking.

Snowline is listed at approximately 3,250m. The extension from Triund is about 3km, with roughly two hours of walking depending on conditions. Your full day's distance depends on the starting point and route; ask for the confirmed walking plan, especially if using a Galu transfer.

Best time and snow conditions

Ask for current conditions when choosing your dates. Clear weather offers the best chance of mountain views, while rain, snow or ice can change access and walking times. Snow cover is seasonal and never guaranteed; the trek's name does not mean year-round snow.

How to reach the meeting point

Plan your arrival in Dharamshala or McLeod Ganj, then travel locally to Bhagsu Nag. Kangra/Gaggal Airport and Pathankot railway station are options for the wider journey; check current connections and allow time for the road transfer. Arriving the day before helps you meet the early start comfortably.

Snowline trek FAQs

Practical answers about the route, price, camping and snow.

Where does the Snowline trek start and finish?

The package starts and finishes at Bhagsu Nag, near McLeod Ganj in Dharamshala. Meet the Manu Adventures India team at the Bhagsu Nag office at 8am on Day 1, unless your booking confirmation gives a different time.

How long is the Snowline trek package?

The standard itinerary is two days and one night. Day 1 goes through Dharamkot, Galu and Triund to Snowline, followed by a descent to Leta Village camp. Day 2 returns to Bhagsu Nag after breakfast.

What is the Snowline trek cost?

The published starting price is ₹2,700 per person for the standard package, with a minimum group size of four. Ask for a quote for your dates and group size; transport, lunch, hotels and baggage carrying are extra.

How difficult is the trek?

Plan for a moderate trek with a long first day, sustained uphill walking, rocky sections and a descent to camp. Fit first-time trekkers can discuss suitability with the team. It is more demanding than stopping at Triund.

How far is Snowline from Triund?

The published route estimate is about 3km beyond Triund, taking roughly two hours depending on pace and conditions. The complete Day 1 route also includes the approach from Bhagsu Nag and the return down to Leta camp.

What is the height of Snowline?

Snowline is approximately 3,250 metres above sea level. This is the high point of the itinerary, not the altitude of the overnight Leta Village campsite.

Will there be snow on the trek?

Snow is seasonal and cannot be guaranteed. The name Snowline does not mean snow is present all year. Ask the team about current trail conditions before booking; access may change with weather.

Where do we stay overnight?

The standard package uses twin-sharing dome tents at Leta Village camp after returning from Snowline. Camping at Snowline or Triund is a different arrangement and must be confirmed separately.

Which meals are included?

Vegetarian dinner on Day 1 and breakfast on Day 2 are included. Lunch, trail snacks, tea stops and other meals are not included unless specifically added to your written quote.

Can I book alone or with fewer than four people?

The listed package has a minimum group size of four. Solo travellers and smaller groups can enquire about joining a departure or receiving a private quote. A place or departure is confirmed only after checking availability.

Can Snowline be done as a day hike?

A day hike may be possible for suitably fit walkers in favourable conditions, but it is a longer and more demanding outing. This package includes an overnight camp. Ask for a separate plan if you need a single-day trek.

Is Laka Glacier included?

No. This itinerary visits Snowline and returns to Leta camp. The Laka Glacier trek is a separate itinerary; choose that package if you want to extend your time beyond Triund and Snowline.
