  • Day 01: Delhi – Shimla (350 km / 8–9 hrs)

    Your journey begins with a pickup from Delhi airport or railway station, followed by a scenic drive through the bustling highways via Chandigarh and Solan. As you ascend into the hills, the air turns cooler and the landscapes greener, offering a refreshing escape from the city’s pace. Upon reaching Shimla, the charming colonial hill station, check in to your hotel and relax. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the famous Mall Road and Ridge, soaking in the mountain views, lively atmosphere, and colonial-era architecture. Overnight stay in Shimla.

  • Day 02: Shimla – Sarahan (165 km / 6–7 hrs)

    After an early breakfast, begin your drive from Shimla towards Sarahan, passing through the scenic hill stations of Kufri, Narkanda, and Rampur. En route, enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan landscapes and terraced fields. On arrival, visit the famous Bhimakali Temple, a remarkable example of Himachali architecture and an important pilgrimage site. From here, take in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Shrikhand Mahadev Peak before settling in for the night. Overnight stay in Sarahan.

  • Day 03: Sarahan – Kalpa (95 km / 4–5 hrs)

    Start the morning with a visit to the local market of Sarahan before setting out on a picturesque drive along the Sutlej River. As you ascend towards Kalpa, the scenery shifts to charming apple orchards and the imposing Kinnaur Kailash mountain range.   • Day 04: Kalpa – Nako – Tabo (200 km / 7–8 hrs)

    Today’s drive takes you through rugged mountain terrain with dramatic views at every turn. Stop at the tranquil Nako Lake, set in a picturesque village surrounded by willows and poplars, before continuing your journey into Spiti Valley. Arrive in Tabo, home to the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the ‘Ajanta of the Himalayas’ for its ancient murals and priceless heritage. Overnight stay in Tabo.

  • Day 05: Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza (70 km / 4–5 hrs)

    Begin the day with a visit to Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site candidate, known for its ancient art and spiritual significance. Continue to Dhankar Monastery, perched dramatically between rocky cliffs, offering panoramic valley views. Later, drive to Kaza, the headquarters of Spiti Valley, where you can relax and acclimatize.   • Day 06: Kaza – Key Monastery – Kibber – Hikkim – Komic – Langza – Kaza

    After breakfast, head out to explore some of Spiti’s most iconic landmarks. Visit Key Monastery, the largest and most picturesque in the valley, followed by Kibber village. Continue to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, and Komic, one of the world’s highest inhabited villages. End the day at Langza, known as the fossil village, before returning to Kaza. Overnight stay in Kaza.

  • Day 07: Kaza – Pin Valley – Kaza

    After breakfast, enjoy the morning in Shimla, exploring the local markets or sightseeing. Depart from Shimla for your onward journey.

  • Day 08: Kaza – Chandratal Lake (90 km / 6–7 hrs)

    Leave Kaza and cross the high-altitude Kunzum Pass (4,551 m) to reach the ethereal Chandratal Lake, often called the ‘Lake of the Moon.’ A short hike brings you to its crystal-clear waters, perfectly mirroring the surrounding snow-clad peaks. Spend the evening under a star-studded sky at your camp near the lake. Overnight stay in Chandratal.

  • Day 09: Chandratal – Manali (120 km / 7–8 hrs)

    Depart early, driving through the rugged terrain of Batal and Gramphu. Cross the legendary Rohtang Pass before descending into the lush green Kullu Valley to reach Manali. Spend the evening at leisure exploring the local market or relaxing at your hotel. Overnight stay in Manali.

  • Day 10: Manali – Delhi (570 km / 12–13 hrs)

    After breakfast, begin your return journey to Delhi by private vehicle or opt for an overnight Volvo bus. This marks the end of your unforgettable Spiti Valley adventure, filled with landscapes, culture, and memories to last a lifetime.

Best Time to Visit

The Spiti Valley Circuit from Delhi via Shimla and Manali is best experienced between mid-May and mid-October. During this period, the high mountain passes such as Kunzum and Rohtang remain open, and the weather is pleasant for travel.

  • May – June: Ideal for those who want to see snow along the passes and enjoy crisp, cool weather. The valleys are lush and green after the winter snow begins to melt.

  • July – August: Perfect for experiencing Spiti’s stark, high-altitude desert landscapes, as this region remains mostly unaffected by the heavy monsoon rains that affect lower Himachal.

  • September – mid-October: Clear skies, excellent visibility, and stunning golden hues as autumn sets in. This is also the best time for photography and fewer crowds.

Winter (late October to early May) is not recommended for this circuit as the passes remain closed due to heavy snowfall, and access is extremely limited.
