Booking and acceptance
These Terms & Conditions apply to bookings and services arranged by Manu Adventures India through this website, email, WhatsApp, telephone and other authorised booking channels. Our services include guided treks, hikes, camping, adventure activities, sightseeing, customised India tours, accommodation and transport arrangements.
Manu Adventures India is based in Bhagsu Nag, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh 176219, India. Learn more about our team.
When your booking is confirmed
An enquiry is not a confirmed reservation. Confirmation requires all three steps: we confirm availability, receive the required advance or full payment, and issue booking confirmation.
By making a booking, paying a deposit or participating in a trip, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms. Before confirming or paying, review your itinerary, inclusions, exclusions, payment schedule and cancellation conditions.
The lead traveller booking for a group must provide accurate information and communicate the relevant conditions to everyone included. Hotels, flights, trains, transport and permits may require immediate or non-refundable payment.
Traveller information and documents
Provide accurate and complete booking information. Depending on the trip, this may include names, contact details, travel dates, group size, ages or dates of birth, nationality, passport or identification details, emergency contacts, hotel and transport details, dietary requirements and other information reasonably needed to arrange the journey.
Incorrect or incomplete details may cause delays, extra costs or prevent us from providing a service.
You are responsible for valid passports, visas and other required travel documents. Some routes require permits or government identification. If we arrange a permit for you, supply accurate documents within the requested timeframe.
Prices and payment
Website prices may change with seasonal demand, accommodation and transport rates, fuel costs, permit and entrance fees, taxes, supplier charges, group size or itinerary changes. We will confirm the applicable price before or during booking. An obvious pricing or typographical error does not oblige us to provide the service at that incorrect price.
Your quotation or booking confirmation states the required advance and balance-payment schedule. Use the payment methods communicated by Manu Adventures India.
Unless otherwise agreed, bank transfer charges, currency-conversion fees, payment-gateway fees and similar transaction costs are normally the traveller’s responsibility.
Traveller cancellations and refunds
Notify us in writing as soon as you need to cancel. Unless different conditions have been communicated for your booking, the standard schedule below applies.
| Cancellation timing or activity | Standard refund |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days before the start date | 100% of the eligible trek or tour amount |
| 20–30 days before the start date | 50% of the eligible trek or tour amount |
| Less than 20 days before the start date | No refund |
| No-show | No refund |
| One-day treks, hikes and sightseeing tours | Non-refundable once confirmed |
Hotels, flights, trains and other third-party services follow their providers’ cancellation rules. The eligible amount and any deductions are explained in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, including supplier costs, permits, processing charges, bank fees and services already committed or used.
That policy also explains how to submit a cancellation and the normal processing time for an approved refund. Check the written conditions attached to your reservation before changing related arrangements.
Itinerary changes, weather and safety
Mountain travel is affected by rapidly changing weather and trail conditions. Heavy rain, snow, fog, thunderstorms, high winds, landslides, unsafe trails, road closures, natural disasters, transport disruption, government or forest restrictions, local authority instructions and other circumstances outside our reasonable control may affect a trip.
Where reasonably necessary, Manu Adventures India may modify, postpone, reroute, shorten or cancel part of an itinerary. Your guide or operations team may change routes, campsites, departure times, walking schedules, activities or transport arrangements for safety.
Where practical, we will make reasonable efforts to offer a suitable alternative. Any refund depends on the circumstances and costs already incurred or committed to guides, hotels, transport, permits and other suppliers. See the weather and safety provisions in our Refund Policy.
A destination is an objective, not a guarantee
A booking does not guarantee reaching a summit, pass, glacier, lake, campsite or other destination. Weather, terrain, altitude and participant wellbeing may prevent completion. Safety takes priority over the planned itinerary.
Adventure risks, health and guide decisions
Trekking, hiking, camping and outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including steep or uneven ground, slippery trails, falling rocks, river crossings, snow, ice, altitude, weather, landslides, wildlife and remote terrain. Communications may be limited and medical assistance may be delayed. Participation is voluntary; reasonable precautions cannot eliminate every inherent risk.
Choose a suitable activity
You are responsible for choosing a trip appropriate to your physical ability and experience. Difficulty ratings are general guidelines: weather, altitude, trail conditions, fitness, age, experience, pack weight and walking pace can change the actual demand.
Seek qualified medical advice if you have concerns about participation, health conditions, medicines, vaccinations or fitness. Our preparation, altitude, hydration and first-aid information is general guidance and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
Altitude and safety instructions
Altitude affects people differently, regardless of fitness or previous experience. Follow reasonable acclimatisation and safety instructions. A guide who considers further ascent an unacceptable risk may require you to descend or change the itinerary.
Respect your guide’s safety decisions. Guides may modify or stop an activity because of weather, trail conditions, participant health, equipment issues, local restrictions or other safety concerns.
Accommodation and camping
Named hotels, campsites, guesthouses and homestays are subject to availability. If a named property is unavailable, we may arrange an appropriate alternative wherever reasonably possible. Standards, facilities and classifications vary by destination and are controlled by individual providers.
Remote camping differs from hotel accommodation. Your package may include tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, meals and other specified facilities. Electricity, mobile coverage, hot water, permanent toilets and Wi-Fi may be limited or unavailable. Review your package inclusions before booking.
Transport and independent suppliers
Driving and arrival times are approximate. Traffic, mountain roads, weather, landslides, roadworks, restrictions, breakdowns and other unforeseen circumstances may cause delays. We cannot guarantee exact journey or arrival times where delays are outside our reasonable control.
Hotels, airlines, railways, transport companies, activity operators, restaurants, local providers and permit authorities may supply parts of your trip. Their own terms, cancellation rules and operating conditions may apply.
We make reasonable efforts to coordinate these services but cannot control every action, delay or service failure of an independent provider.
Insurance and personal belongings
We strongly recommend suitable travel insurance, especially for trekking and adventure activities. Consider cover appropriate to your itinerary for trekking, high-altitude activities, medical emergencies, emergency evacuation, cancellation, travel delays and lost or delayed baggage. You are responsible for checking the policy’s limits and exclusions.
You are responsible for luggage and personal belongings, including passports, money, phones, cameras, equipment, electronic devices, jewellery and valuables. We cannot guarantee their security during transport, trekking, camping or hotel stays.
Traveller conduct and responsible travel
Treat guides, drivers, accommodation staff, local communities and fellow travellers respectfully. Respect wildlife and the natural environment. We may take appropriate action if behaviour creates a serious safety risk, significantly disrupts the trip, damages property or threatens another person.
Do not take part in trekking or adventure activities while impaired by alcohol or other substances in a way that creates a safety risk. A guide may prevent participation where they reasonably consider it unsafe.
Avoid littering, minimise single-use plastic, protect water sources and respect local culture and wildlife. Follow designated trails where required and comply with local environmental regulations.
Unused services and early departure
No refund is normally provided for services voluntarily unused after a trip begins, including accommodation, meals, trekking days, transport, activities, sightseeing and guide services.
If you leave early for personal reasons, extra transport, accommodation and other expenses are normally your responsibility.
Events beyond reasonable control
Manu Adventures India will not be responsible for failure or delay in providing services caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. These include natural disasters, extreme weather, floods, landslides, earthquakes, government actions, strikes, civil disturbances, public-health emergencies, road closures, flight or train disruption and other extraordinary circumstances.
Where possible, we will assist with reasonable alternative arrangements.
Website information, images and intellectual property
We make reasonable efforts to keep website information accurate. Conditions, prices, hotels, permits, itineraries and transport arrangements may change. Website information is guidance, rather than a guarantee that every detail will remain unchanged.
Our photographs and videos represent destinations and travel experiences. Actual scenery, snow, vegetation, accommodation and route conditions vary with season, weather and other factors. Images do not guarantee the exact conditions you will experience.
Unless otherwise stated, original website text, photographs, graphics, itineraries, logos and other content are owned by or licensed to Manu Adventures India. Do not copy, reproduce, republish or use them commercially without appropriate permission, except where applicable law permits.
Privacy, cookies and external links
We handle personal information collected through enquiries and bookings as described in our Privacy Policy. Our Cookie Policy explains the website’s use of cookies and similar technologies.
We do not control the content, availability, security or privacy practices of independent websites linked from this site. Review their policies before providing information or purchasing services.
Liability, governing law and disputes
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Manu Adventures India will not be responsible for losses arising solely from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, transport disruption or independent third-party failures.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where that exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
These terms are governed by the applicable laws of India. Subject to applicable law, disputes concerning our services will be subject to the appropriate jurisdiction in Himachal Pradesh, India. Where possible, both parties should first try to resolve a dispute through good-faith communication.
Updates to these terms
We may periodically update these terms to reflect changes to services, booking procedures, supplier arrangements, website operations or applicable requirements. The latest version will appear here with an updated revision date.
Specific conditions already supplied in a confirmed booking may continue to apply to that reservation. Contact us if you need clarification about the terms attached to your booking.
Quick answers
Terms & Conditions FAQs
These answers summarise the terms above. Read them alongside the written conditions for your booking.
When is my booking confirmed?
After we confirm availability, receive the required payment and issue booking confirmation. Sending an enquiry alone does not reserve a place.
What refund applies if I cancel?
Unless your booking has different written conditions, cancellation more than 30 days before departure gives a 100% refund of the eligible amount; 20–30 days gives 50%; less than 20 days or a no-show gives no refund. Confirmed one-day treks, hikes and sightseeing tours are non-refundable. Supplier rules and deductions may apply.
Can weather change my itinerary?
Yes. Weather, trail conditions, official restrictions and safety concerns can require changes to routes, campsites, schedules, transport or activities. Alternatives and any refund depend on the circumstances and costs already committed.
Is reaching a summit, pass or lake guaranteed?
No. The planned destination is subject to weather, terrain, altitude and traveller wellbeing. Safety takes priority.
Are the named hotels guaranteed?
Accommodation is subject to availability. Where a named property is unavailable, we may arrange an appropriate alternative wherever reasonably possible.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend suitable cover, especially for trekking, altitude and adventure activities. Check that your chosen policy covers the planned activities and understand its limits and exclusions.
Who handles passports, visas and permits?
Travellers are responsible for valid passports, visas and required documents. If we arrange a permit, you must supply accurate documentation within the requested timeframe.
How do I ask about my booking conditions?
Contact our Dharamshala team with your booking name and travel dates. We can clarify the itinerary, payment schedule, cancellation conditions and other arrangements.
