Five days connecting Munnar’s tea-country scenery, a private Alleppey houseboat stay and the heritage streets of Kochi. Begin and finish at your agreed Kochi airport or railway gateway, with private cab travel throughout the scheduled route.
A compact Kerala holiday with two nights in the hills, one night on the backwaters and one night in Kochi—planned around your arrival time and travel preferences.
This Cochin Munnar Alleppey tour package brings together three contrasting landscapes: the rolling hills around Munnar, Alappuzha’s backwater setting and the coastal heritage neighbourhoods of Kochi. It is a five-day holiday with accommodation and vehicle arrangements, rather than a trek.
Spend the first two nights in Munnar, allowing a full day for tea-country sightseeing. Continue to a private houseboat for the third night, then return to Kochi for Fort Kochi and Mattancherry visits before the final departure.
The route is deliberately compact, but there are substantial road journeys between the destinations. Choose arrival times and hotels that make the schedule workable. Ask for the final houseboat specification, sightseeing order and transport proposal before confirming travel.

Two hotel nights in Munnar, one private houseboat night in Alleppey and one hotel night in Kochi. Road distances and times are approximate; pickup location, traffic and chosen stays can change the timings.
Meet your driver at the agreed Kochi airport or railway pickup point and travel towards Munnar. The listed journey is approximately 135 km and 4–5 hours, depending on the pickup location, traffic and stops. Waterfall viewpoints such as Valara and Cheeyappara may be included when access and arrival timing allow. Check in and keep the evening relaxed.
Overnight: Munnar.
After breakfast, explore a workable selection of Munnar’s attractions. Eravikulam National Park, the Tea Museum, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Kundala Lake are the proposed stops, with the final order based on opening days, traffic and your pace. Park access can be restricted during the Nilgiri tahr calving season. Boating and entry tickets are optional expenses, not included activities.
Overnight: Munnar.
Leave after breakfast and drive towards Alappuzha, commonly called Alleppey. Allow approximately 5–6 hours for the listed 180 km journey, with timing adjusted to the hotel location and boat check-in. Board the private houseboat confirmed in your quotation and enjoy the backwater setting. Lunch, evening tea, dinner and the following breakfast are included onboard. Exact waterways, cruising hours, mooring and air-conditioning arrangements are confirmed with the operator.
Overnight: Alleppey houseboat.
After breakfast onboard, disembark and return towards Kochi. Explore a suitable selection of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry sights: Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church, Mattancherry Palace, Jew Town and the Paradesi Synagogue area. Interior visits depend on opening hours and access; admission charges are separate. Marine Drive can be considered later if time permits. Check in for the final hotel night.
Overnight: Kochi.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the agreed Kochi airport or railway station. A short local stop may be possible if your departure schedule allows. Confirm flight or train timing with the team before adding sightseeing; the airport transfer should take priority over an extra attraction.
Overnight: Departure; no additional night included.
Ask whether a separate sightseeing guide is included if that is important to you. Private cab sightseeing does not by itself promise a dedicated guide or admission tickets.
The third night is planned onboard the private houseboat named or specified in your quotation. The backwater route depends on the operator, vessel and local conditions. A larger lake route and a narrow-canal route are different experiences; do not assume every boat can follow the same waterways.
Confirm cruising hours, boarding times, overnight mooring, air-conditioning schedule and the number of bedrooms before booking. Discuss children’s needs, mobility, dietary requirements and the facilities that matter to your group.
Browse Kerala Tourism’s houseboat information for an introduction to the experience. The final boat arrangement is confirmed by our team in writing.
Kerala’s hill and backwater destinations have different temperatures and weather patterns. Choose your dates around the experiences you value and allow flexibility during wetter periods. Rain, road conditions and local restrictions may change waterfall stops or boat arrangements.
Eravikulam National Park closes seasonally for Nilgiri tahr calving. The official Kerala Tourism guide describes this restriction; check the current notice for your exact dates rather than relying on a fixed annual opening promise.
Tea museums, palaces, churches and synagogue visits also depend on opening days and access. We prioritise a workable route and discuss alternatives when a proposed stop is unavailable.
Respect religious-site dress requirements, ask before photographing people and avoid littering on roads or waterways. Keep airport and railway transfers realistic: an extra sightseeing stop should not create a rushed departure.
Tell the team about accessibility needs and room preferences at enquiry stage. You can also read our India travel tips for general preparation.
This package is 5 days / 4 nights. It includes two nights in Munnar, one overnight houseboat stay in Alleppey and one hotel night in Kochi. It starts and finishes at the agreed Kochi airport or railway pickup and drop-off points.
Yes. Cochin is the older English name commonly used for Kochi. The tour uses Kochi as its arrival and departure gateway, with sightseeing around Fort Kochi and Mattancherry on Day 4.
Yes. Alleppey and Alappuzha refer to the same Kerala backwater destination in this itinerary. Your houseboat boarding point and route are confirmed separately with the operator.
The advertised itinerary includes a private houseboat stay. Confirm the number of bedrooms, category, sharing arrangement and facilities in the written quotation. Do not assume that every boat offers identical amenities.
Daily breakfast is included at the hotels. The houseboat stay includes lunch, evening tea, dinner and breakfast. Other hotel lunches and dinners, drinks and unspecified refreshments are extra.
Ask about boarding and disembarkation times, cruising hours, overnight mooring, route, air-conditioning hours, bathroom facilities and the meal plan. The itinerary does not promise continuous overnight cruising or a particular narrow-canal route.
No. Monument, national park and activity entrance fees are excluded unless expressly added to the quotation. Private cab sightseeing covers travel to the agreed stops, not every admission ticket.
Not necessarily. The park has seasonal calving-related closures and access can change. The team checks current availability and discusses an alternative Munnar plan if the park is closed. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Choose dates around your preferred weather and activities. Munnar’s higher ground and Alleppey’s warm, humid backwaters feel different. Wetter periods need flexible road and boat arrangements, while busy holiday periods need earlier reservations. Ask for advice for your exact dates.
This is a road-based holiday with sightseeing walks and a houseboat stay, rather than a trekking programme. Share children’s ages, mobility needs, room preferences and dietary requirements before booking so the arrangements can be assessed.
A private air-conditioned cab is included for the scheduled transfers and sightseeing, with Kochi airport or railway pickup and drop-off. Fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance are included. Flights, train tickets and unlisted optional transfers are excluded.
Yes. Ask about hotels, a longer Munnar stay, houseboat preferences or additional destinations. The listed minimum group size is two. Send your dates and group details through the enquiry form; the team confirms availability and a written quotation before a booking is agreed.
